NCWE Board Committees

Our Board Committees play a crucial role in shaping the direction of NCWE. Through their expertise and dedication, these committees help drive the policies, initiatives, and programs that strengthen workforce education and empower professionals across the nation. Advocacy and Policy Committee

Chair: Dr. Eric Heiser | Vice President Advocacy and Policy 

The Advocacy and Policy Committee coordinates the National Council for Workforce Education’s involvement in workforce education policy. This includes supporting the American Association of Community Colleges’ legislative agenda, creating informational materials for the NCWE website and newsletter, and helping NCWE members become effective advocates for workforce education policies and initiatives within their communities.

Marketing and Communication Committee

Chair: Vacant | Vice President of Marketing and Communications

The Marketing and Communication Committee assists with recruiting and retaining an engaged and informed membership. The Committee supports the Council’s Strategic Marketing Plan and communication strategies, and helps to inform the development of marketing materials and communication products.

Partnerships Committee

Chair: Dr. Kevin Ratliff, Vice President of Partnerships

Our success as workforce practitioners relies on collaboration within the entire workforce ecosystem. Employers, industry organizations, government, community based organizations, research and advocacy organizaions, and philanthropy all play a role in the delivery of successful education and training programs. The Partnerships Committee focuses on engaging with and connecting these varied sectors, identifying national and local projects, advisory boards, or other collaborative efforts that can advance the mission of NCWE and support our members.

Programs and Engagement Committee

Chair: Julie Parks | Vice President of Programs

The purpose of the Programs and Engagement Committee is to (1) support the planning and implementation of the annual conference; (2) provide programmatic guidance and direction; (3) lead the review and awarding of the Exemplary Program Award; (4) to assist with the development and promotion of programs that benefit the members, in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications and Partnerships Committee.  There are two working committees, 1) Conference (including Exemplary Awards) and 2) Programming.

Finance Committee

Chair: Dr. Tracy Kruse, Vice President of Finance

The Finance Committee is responsible for: reviewing and monitoring of annual operating budget; reviewing and monitoring of conference budget; developing guidelines for budget components for grants and partnerships; recommending policies to the Board that have a budgetary impact or effect; analyzing expenditures and how operating budget supports the strategic plan; and making recommendations regarding investments.

Governance Committee

Chair: Teresita Wisell | Governance Board Chair

The Governance Committee is responsible for the health and functioning of the board. The Committee is responsible for: developing and conducting New Board Member Orientation; developing a tool to evaluate the effectiveness of the board; updating the Executive Director’s job description; updating the job descriptions for board members; and developing and analyzing a tool to evaluate the Executive Director.
